Frequently asked questions
Coaching for men |
What is coaching? Coaching involves partnering with our clients as they seek to implement new and important changes. The focus is to help individuals and groups identify new pathways (plans, goals, actions & timing) to address the most important opportunities & challenges (life, family, business or career) in line with God's will for their lives.
What is the basic approach in coaching? We partner with you on this journey to challenge your thinking and assumptions and push you to stretch beyond where you may be comfortable. Our firm belief and experience show that our clients have it within them to set a new direction and transform their life. No matter the topic to encourage you to seek God's discernment and wisdom. What areas will we cover in our coaching? That is entirely up to you. We can take on issues with colleagues, family or friends, new opportunities in your career (maybe a complete change), set a new direction, change a specific habit, develop a new skill, capitalize on a new opportunity or overcoming a specific challenge. Ideally those areas that are the most challenging or have the potential for the greatest impact. How does coaching compare to counseling? This is a great question, as so many people struggle with the differences. Counseling, typically, focuses on specific mental health condition like depression, or problems of the past, specifically family of origin or childhood wounding. Coaching is more about partnering with our clients in on-going one on one dialogue to help you achieve your goals, plans, aspirations or opportunities for the future. How many sessions will be required? It depends on the issues. Some challenges with how to approach a problem with a colleague at work may be worked out in a single session, whereas a plan to make a substantial shift in a career or start a new business may take several sessions across a number of months. Can I stop at any time? There is no requirement to continue any work beyond what you find helpful. We just ask for a debrief of the work we did together to help us continue to learn and grow in our profession in our pursuit of doing God's will. What can I do to prepare for the sessions? Thing about what might be the most important topic for us to cover, and please review our code of ethics and coaching agreement and fill out the simple form here. |
